Oral Pathology

As specialists in periodontics we are trained to examine for pathology in the oral cavity. This may involve the perio (around) dontal (tooth) conditions of your gums or changes in the oral soft and hard tissues that are part of your mouth and not necessarily involving your teeth. All patient exams are designed to check for any places in the mouth that do not display normal characteristics. We utilize the services of the University of Maryland’s Oral Pathology staff for cross-consultation and histological analysis of biopsy samples where needed.
