Drs. Passero, Feeney & Puterman are pleased to announce that we now have a 3D Cone Beam iCAT scanner in our office. This state-of-the-art technology greatly improves our ability to diagnose our patients’ concerns as well as our ability to treat them.
3D CAT scan technology has been available in hospitals for decades, and although it has the capability of giving us a vast amount of useful information, it also has several limitations. Our 3D iCAT dental scanner uses newer technology that offers many advantages over traditional hospital CAT scans:
It is safer for our patients, by using far less radiation than a hospital CAT scan. In fact, it uses a lower amount of radiation than a set of standard dental x-rays.
It allows us to study your concerns in depth so that we can use minimally invasive techniques to address them.
It offers us the ability to perform computer guided implant treatment using state-of-the-art treatment planning software.
It gives us the information we need almost immediately so that we can review the findings with our patients as soon as possible.
It is wide open, and completed in a seated position. There is no need to worry about tight spaces.
It only takes 8-20 seconds to complete the scan.
The scan is done right here, in our office. There is no need to go to a hospital.
It is far less costly than a hospital CAT scan.
The biggest aid that the 3D iCAT provides us with is that it gives us more information about our patients’ situations than we could have with standard 2D dental x-rays. We can now evaluate the details of your teeth and bone prior to any procedure, so that we can take less time during the procedure, and be as minimally invasive as possible.
The iCAT is so beneficial that other dental specialists often refer their patients to us for an iCAT 3D scan prior to root canal treatments, orthodontics, TMJ treatment, or wisdom tooth extractions. The information that we get allows all of us to more accurately diagnose and more easily care for our patients.
As one of the only offices in the D.C. metro area with an iCAT scanner, we are pleased to be able to offer this valuable service to our patients.
